Ah......lightbulb moment!! I think hiney mustard dressing SHOULD be honey mustard dressing, LMAO

And.....the reason the search came up in my site is that I was talking about John moving his hiney to music, and then there was another post where I was talking about honey mustard dressing, LOL

Boy, was it rainy this morning. I have to go out and use the wet vac in the sunporch to suck out all the water..... Our sunporch is basically a 3 sided structure that was attached to the back of our house. The bottom is a concrete slab covered in that astroturf type rug, and the walls are made up of aluminum siding. We really have never had a problem before, but I guess at the water was POURING out of the sky and whipping around today it decided to find any cracks it could to invade our dry space.

These questions coming from Whitney

1) You are a college professor who turned your love of something into teaching others about it. What course do you teach?
Jazz and Broadway dancing, of course :-)

2) What course did you absolutely hate in high school and why?
ENGLISH......I enjoy reading stories, I just could never figure out the hidden meanings of things, symbols, characters, story lines, etc.....

3) If parents were required to pick a career for each of their children, what would you pick for yours?
John...MLB player, Stephanie...singer/entertainer, Tommy...pediatric opthamologist (he has said he wants to help other kids out who need glasses, just like him...)

4) What is your decorating style like, and does it change at all?
Country, Contemporary, Casual I have no decorating sense whatsoever, and until the children are out of the house, or that I can afford to have a decorator come in, it will be the same style ;-)

5) What is the one item in your closet you should have thrown out years ago, but can't bear to part with?
I still have cotton oversized tshirt/legging outfits from the late 80's.....the ones decorated with either glitter or large jewels. I just haven't cleaned my closet in a long time......it's not like I'm still wearing these ;-)

Some easy Friday Five's today......

1. Is the name you have now the same name that's on your birth certificate? If not, what's changed?

Last name changed due to marriage

2. If you could change your name (first, middle and/or last), what would it be?

I would love to have a last name that you could NOT screw up in any way, shape or form, LOL.......something like Smith or Black......just for one day,
LOL

3. Why were you named what you were? (Is there a story behind it? Who specifically was responsible for naming you?)

From what I know, my parents just liked the name Donna, and caught heck for not naming me after anyone in the family.

4. Are there any names you really hate or love? What are they and why?

I hate trendy names......not to say that if you have a trendy name or named your kid a trendy name that I think less of you, I just don't particularly care for them.

5. Is the analysis of your name at kabalarians.com accurate?

I think so......

Your first name of Donna has made you happiest when you are expressing in some creative, artistic way, and not conforming to strict routine. In a large group of comparative strangers, you are quiet and rather shy, unable to express yourself, not really wanting to become involved in conversation. On the other hand, among friends with whom you feel at ease, you are expressive, witty, and quite charming. These contrasting natures make it difficult for people to understand you and can lead to friction in your personal life. You are deep, philosophical, and refined, but your extremely sensitive nature causes you to become depressed and self-pitying over any real or imagined slight. If you are not careful, people take advantage of your generous nature. You find the beauties of nature, fine music, art, and literature--all the deeper things of life--inspiring. The reserved, sensitive side of your nature brings aloneness and friction into your life, although you crave affection and understanding.

When it rains, it pours.....

I'm SO excited......going into NYC 3x between 10/25 and 11/29 to see 42nd Street, Rent (again) and A Christmas Carol (for John and I again, 1st time for the kids). Rent is for a friend of mine's birthday. Limo pickup at 10am and whisking us away for a weekend in the city!! Last time we saw A Christmas Carol, Roger Daltrey was Scrooge, so I don't think this time will top that, but we shall see....... Another highlight of that show is that we had WAY front row seats so Roger walked in our aisle to hand a present out to the kid next to John, so I touched him, LOL. Our seats, I bought with a discount code and saved $90 but, we are in section 200, no presents or snow in that section :-(
I'm playing 5 Questions with the questions coming from Amy. Here are the questions she's asking Leslie, Whitney, Laura, Cindy and me :-)

1. Name a defining moment of your life and why/how it defines you.

I guess one of the major defining moments in my life is when I met my husband. I was in a downward spiral in my personal love life and while I was enjoying myself and life in general and being at college, I was really hurting myself. Once I met John, I stopped a lot of bad behaviors and got out of the rut of hanging out with the local boys who were going nowhere, and still haven't. He always reminds me of how he saved me too, LOL......yeah, yeah, whateva......

2. What is one of your favorite childhood memories?

One of my favoritest memories was going to watch my father play softball in his afterwork sports league and THEN the BEST part was going to the dive bars (as I now know them to be, LOL) and hanging out eating pizza and playing shuffleboard with the other kids. We felt so cool, being allowed to be in the bar and playing the games.

3. What happens when we die?

What I believe to happen when we die is that the people, who really tried to be good and thought they lived life to the fullest are whisked away to heaven by a loved one that has gone before them. Those who were evil and sinister don't come there with us...

4. Your dream job would be?

My dream job is to be a Broadway STAR!! I have a problem achieving that job, in that I can't sing and I get REALLY nervous talking in front of people, but I could dance my ass off!!

5. Tell me a really funny or embarrassing story involving you.

The first thing that pops into my mind is a Halloween party in college. I was a cat, that had a long dangly tail. I drank, quite a bit that night, and had to use the toilet. So, I pull down my leotard and pants and pee. I get up and realize that my tail was in the toilet the whole time. I take it off and throw it in the people's tub and shut the shower curtain. At some point in the night, we wandered from apartment to apartment. I remember a couple of people that night finding me elsewhere and saying that they found my tail in the other apartment. I pretended to not know and told them that I'd go get it, but I never did, LOL.

Do you wanna play too? If you do, give me a shout

Hmm.......why, when I try to email someone that has left me a comment, does it not work......PMO

Anyway, Amy P, my kids are now in 4th, 3rd and kindergarten..........

I guess I might be double posting things on my blog, for some of my friends. I recently found out that some ladies that I once was in an email group with have discovered my blog, and I, theirs, so for those I post with on a regular basis, sorry, LOL.

We have a busy weekend coming up and I just realized that if I don't make my chicken, for an Oriental Chicken Salad, now, that I'll never get it done by tomorrow before we have to leave for our soccer games. I really don't want to be cooking chicken breasts at 9:43pm. BLEH......I even had dinner done by 2:30 today so that we could all serve ourselves before I ran out to practice with Johnny. Trying to think of how I can cook the chicken tomorrow, so that I can go to bed now, LOL

After soccer, we are heading to South Jersey tomorrow. I hear the ocean is gonna be nasty due to the effects from Fabian. Our only time down the shore, and we are going to have to be very careful. Actually, I don't even know how much time we'll really spend at the beach. Our friend's house is 3 blocks from the beach and the party is there.....so....

Ugh.....well, I guess it's cook or sleep right now......we'll see what I feel like doing by the time the computer shuts down and I walk up the 6 stairs to the kitchen, LOL

So "THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL" is over......they all had a wonderful day. I had my first PTA exec. board meeting this morning. Seems like we never left.

I caught Steffi's class in the library, walked past Johnny and Tommy's rooms and peeked in there, and caught Johnny's class in the cafeteria.

As excited as I was to see them go this morning, I was just as excited to have them come home.

First day of school is so wonderful. No one gets in trouble, every thing is happy-happy, not a lot of work going on, LOL.

John had to rewrite a poem in script today.......it had about 9 lines and I think he complained for the whole hour and a half it took for him to complete this. I told him next year he has to write for 10 minutes each day, so he doesn't forget what it is like to do work, LOL. I also told him to loosen up on the pencil. I'm surprised he doesn't break that thing in half after two loop-de-loops.

I finally got to the grocery store to stock up on the school foods I need......Nabisco single-serve on sale......deli line was short, Capri-Sun on sale.....etc......

The kids looked so dapper today.....well John and Steffi did. Tommy looked cute, but was wearing a t-shirt from Hershey and jeans. John (dad) was upset that I let Tommy wear a tshirt on the 1st day of school, but this kid was DYING to wear his souvenir shirt, and although I tried to convince him it was a good 2nd day shirt, it wasn't worth the fight, IMO. I was in the school today......believe me...even when my kids wear their "worst", they look a lot better than some of the other kids....

Well, I got a call to come help out in the CCD office for tomorrow, so I guess I should get all my things in order tonight...waking up at 7am is killing me, LOL

Have a good one!

I really want to blog on a more regular basis, but this weekend was relaxing and boring, LOL. Nothing to talk about.....movies watched, video games played, naps taken, books read.....that's about it, :-)

I am on my 8th James Patterson book, and I see he has a new one coming out in November.....The Big Bad Wolf

When the Wind Blows, 1998
Four Blind Mice, 2002
The Jester (with Andrew Gross), 2003
The Thomas Berryman Number, 1976 (couldn't finish)
The Beach House (with Peter De Jonge), 2002
Season of the Machete, 1977
The Lake House, 2003 (Sequel to When the Wind Blows)
See How They Run, 1997 (Orig. The Jericho Commandment 1979) (reading now)

After reading Four Blind Mice, I realized that I really liked his style, short chapters, etc...so I wanted to read him "in order", but I had already put The Jester on a waiting list. I tried his first novel, but just couldn't get into it..... All the other books have been finished in about a week or less, and I am loving them.

Next book will be Black Market, 1986
