What a beautiful spring like weekend we enjoyed.......

I decided that I wanted to go for a Sunday drive, so we went up to High Point State Park. The weather was beautiful, the view was clear, but MAN, was it breezy. Unfortunately, the monument was closed......after all it is the middle of winter... We started to walk a trail, but the boys had to pee, and there were a lot of people up there, actually, so we decided to go home and grill burgers for dinner. I took pictures that I'll post here when they are developed.

I'm playing Bunco tonight. Wednesday, we hit the city to see Phantom of the Opera, and go to dinner somewhere. I have the CD, and various snow globes and other collectibles from this show, so I know what to expect. We even had them sing All I Ask of You during our church ceremony and the whole place cried, LOL. The cantor and the organist sung it so beautifully. I'm sure I'll be BAWLING during the show, hehe.

I have a major rant about our Brownie leader, but I am trying to take the high road and sweep my nastiness under the rug, but if you are lucky, I'll post about it sometime this week, LOL.

Have a great day!

Last night I went out with a bunch of gals and we saw Kate & Leopold. It's a good movie to see just to get lost in silly romance, that you know could never happen. It is a great getaway and hang out with friends movie. Of course having to watch Hugh Jackman romance someone was not that hard to indulge myself with.

I signed Tommy up for preschool for next year.......$1530 for yearly tuition......he better come out of there with his PhD, LOL.

I've been having a very emotional week/two weeks......just so hard...... (no hugs please, I just need a place to write this stuff down for myself so that I can look back at things sometime in the future)

Sorry that I've been quiet/missing. We had a rollerskating birthday party for my son on Friday and yesterday, Sunday, would have been my father's 60th birthday, and it also happened to be one month since he died.

We attended church with my mother, who had the mass said *in memory* of my dad. My mom and I bought up the gifts. I was crying throughout a normal Sunday mass, as it was in the church that I attended until I got married, and it just brought back the memories of going to mass, as a kid, with my family, as my dad would make sure that we were sitting up straight, singing, reciting prayers, etc. Then after communion, my mom was sobbing pretty heavily, and she set me off again. So it was a very emotional hour. We then went out to brunch and toasted in memory of my dad and wished him Happy Birthday. After a wonderful brunch, we visited his gravesite and then presented my mother with that plaque that I had previously blogged about.

Then I let the kids go sledding at my mom's house. We had a pretty awesome sledding hill in the back yard, and as the kids found out yesterday, it still IS pretty awesome. Then, at 2pm, we took Steffi to a party 1/2 hour away, and let someone else bring her home. Then, 2:30pm, drove John (husband) and Tommy home. 3pm, went back towards my mom's to watch Johnny at a rollerskating party. 4:30, got a call, that Steffi's friend wanted to have a playdate, said okay. 6pm, left rollerskating party, called to check on Steffi, and she wanted to have dinner at her friends, said okay. Came home, John left to play basketball at 7pm, Steffi came home at 7:15 and today we are gonna have a family cleaning day. LOL

I wanted them to go sledding again at my mom's today, but since Christmas, we haven't gotten rid of the old, to make room for the new, so that is what I'll be doing as soon as my coffee is done.

Enjoy your day!!!

Oh yeah, Steffi cut her 6 year molars recently, I felt in there this morning, and there was a little point stickin' through.....John cut his close to his 7th birthday, too, if I remember. Well, she won't be 7 until July, but she's around that age...
So, today, my car felt *weird*. It felt like the car kept sliding off the wheels, to the right.....but not all the time....after completing 3/4 of my chauffuering tonight, I saw the right rear tire was 85% flat. I have a mini air compressor in the car, so I filled it up enough to get home, but damn...anyone have a couple of bucks they want to give me for a new tire??

Odd thing is, we had garage work done. Now, my mother had a flat last week, after being here, and now mine......me thinks someone dropped some nails GRRRRRRRRR
Has it been 3 weeks already??? :-(

Didn't I blog yesterday?? I meant too......oh well.....here's today's entry, LOL

Oh, yeah, and it's snowing!!! Guess I should have got Johnny's his boots :-(
Ack.....I have just officially took my father's spot in the tortilla/salsa eating exhibition, LOL......1/2 bag of chips and a full dip bowl of salsa GONE......LOL
Supposed to get 5-7 inches of snow tonight.......I might get my first opportunity to kick off the snow chain calls tomorrow morning.
Yes.....things definitely can hit you out of the blue.....

I thought I'd been handling my father's death somewhat well, but when one sits in their dark bedroom for the first 1/2 hour of a party one is hosting, bawling her eyes out, then I'd have to say that I still need time to get through this. I also almost started crying during the cake ceremony. Dad always shovelled tortillas and salsa in his mouth, until you were practically throwing them away, and ALWAYS had seconds on the ice cream cake...... There was no one having seconds today.

My mom and I did, however, "talk shop" though. When my dad was here, SOMEONE always brought computers into the conversation. My mom and I looked at QVC, QVC.com and Dell computer's site to see what system she is going to be getting soon to replace the laptop that my mom needs to turn back over to the government (dad's work)

Today's entry.....When Good Casseroles Go Bad......

LOL...I swear, there were a ton of people that were really sweet and helpful that made food and desserts for my family, but there were SO many that we had about 5 different foods in our fridge, that after the second day of them, we were tired of them. So for the past week they all sat in the fridge. Today, I decided to chuck them all. I am the only one who attempts to eat them anymore, so why cramp my fridge with foods that should be expiring soon. I had a hard time throwing out the 1/4 almond mocha sheet cake, cuz it was good, but think of the damage I saved my ass from, LOL

So......the returning/exchanging thing is done, Johnny's birthday party is set, his presents are bought, the peanut butter cookies are made and they have been dipped, along with some pretzels in chocolate, and I am about to defeat the final boss on Luigi's Mansion, LMAO.

I have decided to have two of Johnny's friends over for pizza and play tomorrow night because we had to *postpone* his *friend* birthday party until the 18th. They should have a blast.

My sister and I decided to give this to my mom on my Dad's birthday on 1/20. We are also looking for some sort of stone to place on his gravesite until the spring, when we can get his headstone. Get this.....they average $1200......yeesh

So, I think I have successfully assimilated into the real world again today. I thought it was just me who was out of sorts, given the recent happenings in my life, but EVERY one I talked to was happy to see 1/2/02 come and have normalcy come back to them. My house is back in order, just in time for more guests to come over this weekend for my son's 8th birthday. Oh, wait, I blogged about that already, LOL.

One thing I do have to do is get back on track with grocery shopping and stop all these quick runs to the store. :-)

I've been spending a bit of time playing Game Cube with the kids, it's bonding time with them, yeah, that's the ticket, LOL. I also got tickets to see Phantom of the Opera at the end of the month, and my husband is actually going to go see it with me. WOOHOO I guess it's because I have the cd and we used one of the songs from there for our wedding. I am looking forward to dinner afterwards out in the city as well.

Now that the house is all sorted out again, I need to spend time in the kids' rooms and really weed out the toys. But, first things first...I just remembered I have to return/exchange gifts tomorrow......oh, well.......
