It's official......my middle-schooler wants NOTHING to do with me when we are at his school activities :-(

He had orientation today at 9:30 and I was walking him in, because we need to buy a school lock. Well, I shouldn't say I was walking him in. I was going in and he was going in. He walked briskly to the main entrance, and everyone else was going in the side entrance. I felt that if I called his name for him, or chased after him, he'd snub me all the more.....

I'm sure he ended up where he was supposed to be, but I was with all his friends.....and their moms.

I'm sure he's nervous and anxious, but still..he's not the only one.

GLADCORN.COM

My husband brought some of this home today. I think I'm gonna make myself sick on this stuff. I just can NOT put the bag down.
ACK

I just dropped John off at the 7th and 8th Grade Beach party. The place is PACKED, man!! The line to get into the drop off area was at least 50 cars long. I'm glad I did the drop off and not the pick-up tonight.

Makes me want to be a kid again.....

Recipes : Marc Antony's Scampi Wraps : Food Network

I just made these for dinner, minus the anchovies. Two thumbs up!!

I've also made the Thai Chicken wraps at the bottom of the page before, another yummy choice.

Ugh.....I HATE 5pm practices. We like to eat at 5/5:30. I HAD been dropping off a kid at practice, coming home, eating, and then going back to pick up the kid, serving them when they got home.

Tonight, I decided to stay at the field and not fly through town twice. I sat and read in the car for a peaceful hour. I came home and made a simple breaded chicken cutlet, Lipton noodles and sauce and veggies. It took a good 1/2 hour to cook and we ate close to 7:30. That's TOO LATE. Looks I'll rethink my options on 5pm practices in the future.

Actually, I think once school starts we are only going to practice on Thursday. Johnny from 5-6:30, Tom 6:30-8 at the same field, and get Steph to dance by 7pm closeby, so I think we'll definitely be employing the crockpot!

I'd STILL like to try and do a weekly meal plan, but somehow, I never get that far after I plan my grocery list, LOL.

Talk City: Chat Games: Ridiculist

Hehe......I was cleaning out my bookmarks tonight, and I came across one that led me RIGHT back to my WebTV days!! LOL

I used to have a homepage on talkcity.com, and that was what the bookmark was for, but then I wondered if talkcity was even still around. I used to belong to an alt.tv.daysofourlives newsgroups, that is still going strong, with the same people causing trouble. John and I also used to play these games, a LOT!!

That Days of Our Lives forum led me to form a group called Mommieslove with a few other gals....we did graphic sets and had our own webpages.......

From there I graduated to Mom's Life message boards, and that splintered off to a handful over the years as well. It's amazing how large your internet world gets, but as I stated in the beginning of this post.....it's all thanks to Talk City, LOL
:spraying the pledge, getting the wipes:

Stay tuned! I AM clearing the dust off this thing. Hopefully I'll feel inspired to blog.
So, just where did that summer go? We had a wonderful summer, but I can't believe it's time for the school/sports/etc. rat race again.

We had a rainy weekend, so my husband took the opportunity to hang four new doors on our upstairs bedroom and closet doorways. The only thing we HAVEN'T touched now, since we've moved in is our front entry way and family room/den. I'm sure those projects aren't far behind.

I took the opportunity to do some filing. Actually, it ended up that 90% of it was from 2004 and I just shredded it all anyway. I must have sorted it out at some point and then got pulled away to do something else and just put it all on the filing cabinet, so that's all caught up.

Oh, and we bought a new car!! After we came home fron NC, our 1998 Grand Caravan turned 100,000 miles. We did just, unfortunately, put $800 into the car before we left, but it did get us down and back safely. My transmission had been "iffy" for a good couple of months, so we bit the bullet and got a 2006 Town and Country minivan. It's gold, because it came with Sirius. The green (magnesium pearl) that I wanted did not have Sirius, and we'd rather have it built into the radio than a take-along receiver, so that's that.

The night before, I was getting the title out for the trade-in and it was exactly 8 years ago that we bought the van. I should have played the numbers 821.

Um, what else..

I did just recently break away from most of my message board posting. It WAS taking up a lot of my time, and just in the past two weeks, I have done small projects to keep me busy, rather than hit No New Messages, or sit on the computer, waiting for a post. I found that I am reading blogs more regularly now to see "what's going on" with a few gals, and I'm commenting on them as well. I'm also reading more and watching TV "better" at night. Who knows if that is a good trade-off or not, but for now, I think I made the right decision.

Gonna end it here for now. I think the upstairs is waiting for me to vacuum it before dinner!!
